Members of the marching band at Georgia's Brookwood High School are in trouble for spelling out a racial slur during a halftime performance, The Hill reports.

Seven band members are given letters to spell out "Broncos," the name of the school's mascot during their performance. However, the Snellville, Georgia, students entrusted with this duty during the school's last game chose to spell out "c**n" instead.

Principal Bo Ford wrote a letter calling the incident "hurtful, disrespectful and disappointing," reports CBS WGCL-TV.

“We are a very inclusive community, and we care about all of our students,” Ford added. “We are concerned that this situation occurred and are committed to taking steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

Ford further confirmed the involved students would be disciplined. CBS News reports the school will review its halftime show procedures. A spokesperson for Gwinnett County Schools said no staff will be disciplined.

The students who spelled "c**n" on the field have not yet spoken out.
