Coachella may have just wrapped up, but music festival season has just started. With festivals like Rolling Loud, Made in America, Panorama and many more on the horizon, it can be overwhelming picking the perfect one to spend your hard earned money on—especially if it's your first festival.

Here are a few friendly reminders to surviving this year's music festival season!

1. Wear SunscreenPhoto: Giphy

While you’re showing off some of your latest looks this festival season, make sure you protect your skin! The sun beaming on your skin for 8+ hours can lead to sunburn, exhaustion (you don’t want to be the one who passes out at a festival) and much more. Stock up on the SPF, or rock a dad hat to keep the sun rays out of your face!

2. Bring a Refillable Water BottlePhoto: Giphy

From the merch to the food, everything at music festivals is on the pricey side. The last thing you want to do is spend your last couple of dollars on $6 water. Bring a water bottle and make sure to hit the refilling stations at the festival of your choice. Staying hydrated during the turn up is a major key!

3. Download the AppPhoto: Giphy

Nowadays, every music festival has an app, and it’s for a good reason!

Festival apps are the best and easiest way to stay organized while turning up. Not only do they provide all kinds of info on parking, the location and more, but they, most importantly, they give the rundown on the entire line up. You can schedule and set alarms to ensure you won’t miss your favorite performer on festival apps for Made in America, Afropunk, Broccoli City and many more.

4. See a New BandPhoto: Giphy

While your heart may be set on only seeing the headliners at the music festival you choose this season, during some down time, check out a new artist. Festivals are the perfect time to check out indie bands or artists you would never listen to otherwise. You may even go home with some new music to vibe to!

5. Dress the PartPhoto: Giphy

Over the past couple of years, music festival style has moved to the forefront and grabbed the attention of everyone from attendees to retail brands. In fact, it seems like people are more into having the perfect “festival look” that they forget that they’re actually at a festival. Here are some important things to remember:

Bodysuits and porta-potties are don’t mix. Wear comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty or stepped on. Don’t appropriate another culture for some Instagram likes. Most importantly, don’t take yourself, or your look, too seriously.

6. Bring an External BatteryPhoto: Giphy

Music festivals are fun, but are typically all day. While most fests have charging stations, they’ll usually be overcrowded. Carry a portable charger or a Mophie so your phone doesn’t die when you’re trying to link with your friends or Instagram Live a performance for everyone to see!

7. Choose the Right Festival FOR YOUPhoto: Tenor

It’s easy to get caught up in the music festival hype and go with the popular choice instead of something you’re actually into. There are a plethora of festivals for everything from jazz to yoga to R&B and EDM. Choose a festival that features your favorite artists, activities and is in your budget. Don’t go broke trying to stunt! There are plenty of smaller and local festivals that are just as fun as the big ones!
