nullRZA has signed up to direct “Breakout,” the upcoming action-thriller from Amasia Entertainment.

Richard D’Ovidio is penning the script which is based on a story by Richard D’Ovidio and Nicole D’Ovidio about a young photographer, and son of a prominent public figure, falsely accused of drug trafficking in Bangladesh, and who has to be broken out of prison to uncover the truth.

Filming is set to start in early 2016.

“The multi-talented RZA has mastered the art of music, acting and filmmaking,” said Amasia principals Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant. “We are ecstatic to have him behind the camera on our next project as he brings a fresh and innovative take to this international action thriller from Rich D’Ovidio.”

It’s another directing gig for RZA to add to his schedule. We already reported on "One Spoon Of Chocolate," which he has described as "a romantic tragedy… real provocative… will incorporate consciousness, love and awareness.”

He was also attached to helm John Milius’ Genghis Khan biopic, as well as an action thriller titled "No Man’s Land," and an adaptation of comic book author Grant Morrison’s latest work, "Happy!." He’s also written a treatment for a horror film called "Tasmania," which he’s called "a crazy one," and he has an idea for a comedy called "Down to the Last Buck."
