After eight long years, Sade is gracing fans with new music, and old heads and old souls alike are rejoicing.

Many began to speculate about the possibility of new music after providing the track “Flower of the Universe” for Ava DuVernay’s blockbuster A Wrinkle in Time. And now, our time has come.

Sade group member Stuart Matthewman confirmed the new album.

“We’re working on a new album!” he told Rated R&B

Matthewman also alluded to the fact that the 59-year-old singer has already cultivated a couple of songs but won’t release anything until the album feels complete. He said the “Soldier of Love” artist makes music for herself – a skill and mastery in which she takes pride.

“It might sound funny, but we write and do music to please ourselves and just hope that [we] have good taste and other people will like it,” Matthewman said. “Years ago, I think it was when ‘By Your Side,’ the song came out, and big posters were stuck around New York. Someone sprayed or wrote on top of it, ‘Bitch sings when she wants to.’ Sade loved it.”

We hate to love it, too!
