Amid the ongoing investigation into Gabby Petito's death, a united social media front has pushed the missing case of Daniel Robinson to the forefront. Robinson, a 24-year-old man from Columbia, South Carolina, has been missing since June, Newsweek reports.

He was last seen leaving a worksite in the Arizona desert, just 50 miles southwest of Phoenix on June 23. He was reported missing later that day. Buckeye Police said Robinson "had not told anyone where he was going or why he was leaving," and "was not like himself at times" before he disappeared. They added that there was no indication that he wished to harm himself or leave the area.

Police say he was last spotted driving westward in his 2017 Jeep Renegade, going further into the desert area. On July 19, a civilian discovered the Jeep in a ravine with "significant damage" due to the rough ground in the area. It "appear[ed] to have rolled and landed on its side," officials wrote.

Later that month, a skull was found near the area, but police determined it didn't belong to Robinson. Investigators have not found any human remains pertaining to the case.

Authorities conducted a search on foot using UTVs and cadaver dogs, as well as air support in the form of drones and helicopters to canvas the more than 70 square miles of desert where Robinson was reported to be.

Robinson is described to be a 5'8" Black man with black hair and brown eyes. He's also missing his right forearm and hand. His father says his son started working as a field geologist after graduating from college in 2019. Due to the job, he was often working in remote desert locations, and typically in extreme conditions.

"Daniel has an innate passion for adventure and is known to travel inopportune moments. However, he always communicates with friends and family about his travel plans," Robinson's father, David Robinson II, shared on the family's GoFundMe. "I traveled from South Carolina to be in the frontline of all efforts to locate my son. Like any father, I attend on staying indefinitely until we have answers and bring Daniel home safely."

The GoFundMe, which has raised over $92,000, was created to cover the expenses for a "private investigator, printing of missing flyers, desert search and rescue team ( this is highly important to collect supplies and ensure the safety of volunteers in the desert heat), Hotel expenses ( I am currently covering hotel costs to stay in AZ as long as possible), as well as Any other resources and expenses to continue the search."
