After the record-breaking success of Marvel's "Black Panther," no person should bet against stories featuring majority black characters.

On Wednesday, Twitter user @KosokoJackson demonstrated old ideas about books written and edited by people of color have finally been debunked by posting The New York Times bestseller lists for young adults and middle grade. Nearly half of the authors listed are people of color.

Among some of the bestselling books is Angie Thomas's critically-acclaimed debut novel, The Hate U Give.

Another notable book on the list is the recent release by 24-year-old Nigerian-American writer Tomi Adeyemi, The Children of Blood and Bone.
This fantasy epic focuses on protagonist Zélie, a fisherman’s daughter, who is sent on a quest to restore magic to her people. Works by Kwame Alexander and other people of color also make the lists. Take a look below.
