A German candy company apologized for posting a promotional picture of a chocolate covered marshmallow in a wedding dress following the royal wedding.

Last Saturday, Super Dickmann's posted a cartoon of their "Schokokuss" wearing a white gown, veil and tiara on their Facebook page, according to The Sun.

The words "Ein Schaum in Weiss" or "A Foam in White" were printed above its head, and the post's Facebook caption translates to "What are you looking at … don't you too by any chance want to be Meghan today?"

The ad sparked an outcry on social media, causing the company to post a brief apology in the comment section before deleting the post.

One user commented "racist sh*t," adding, "Saw Dickmann's commercial and want to set something on fire."

“A big pardon! The world of Super Dickmann’s is colorful and diverse and far from racist thoughts,” the company's comment read.

Spokesman Bernd Roessler called the post “stupid and embarrassing” and said the company “had not put enough thought into the post,” reports the BBC.

Many users seemed unimpressed with the apology, however.

"Pathetic campaign, pathetic response," one user wrote. "I hope there will be financial consequences for you."
