Tamar Braxton doesn’t blame Delta Air Lines for the actions of one of its employees.
Her sister and Braxton Family Values co-star, Towanda, posted an Instagram video of a pilot using a condescending tone as he spoke to Tamar.
It appeared the pilot was reprimanding the former The Real co-host for failing to listen to the flight attendants onboard.
“Here’s how this works,” he said. “My flight attendants work for me. They give orders that come from me. So if you get an instruction from a flight attendant, I need to know that you are willing and able to do what you’re told to do. Are you willing and able to do what you’re told to do by a flight attendant? Don’t ask me any questions. Answer yes or no.”
Towanda implied the pilot was racist, but Tamar believes her public persona might have influenced his behavior.
“Because of what people perceived on television is why I was targeted in the first place, and that wasn’t really fair because I did nothing but sit in my seat and put my seatbelt on and try to get home to my son,” she told TMZ.
“I was targeted because of how someone felt I acted on television or whatever. I treat everyone with respect … It’s unfortunate that that happened. I’m still a customer. Like I said, the company isn’t bad.”
According to Page Six, the pilot approached Tamar because she was acting weird, but they did not elaborate.
“It’s crucial for the safety of every flight for customers to be willing and able to follow crew instructions,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “When these customers exhibited some unusual behavior and refused to acknowledge our flight crew’s instructions, the captain addressed them directly to ensure the safety and security of the entire flight.”
