A 9-year-old's creative skills are catching the attention of Mattel, the manufacturer of Barbie.

Nevaeh Woods, a Michigan native, started creating custom designs for her Barbie dolls using household items like ribbons, socks, gemstones and scissors, WDIV reports

Her mom, Sha'kvia Woods, said she is often impressed by her daughter's work and encourages her to pursue her dreams of being a fashion designer. One day, however, her mom was so blown away that she posted a picture to Facebook.

“I just took pictures of them, so I was really amazed,” Woods said. “I shared it to Facebook and then I got a lot of my friends say make this public and when I made it public it just went viral."

The 9-year-old's designs not only caught the attention of family and friends, but she also gained an unexpected fan.

“Barbie sent me this amazing box,” Nevaeh said.

To her surprise, she received brand new Barbie dolls from Mattel to style.

"We heard you love designing clothes. Here's a couple new editions to add to your collection. Always remember you can be anything!" a letter from the company read

Nevaeh said Mattel reaching out to her made her “feel special because I’m achieving my goal to be a fashion designer and that’s what I really want to do.”

Overwhelmed and excited by the outstanding support, Nevaeh posted a video on YouTube thanking everybody.

"Because of you I'm closer to my goal of becoming a fashion designer," she said.

She also thanked her parents for believing in her and telling her "that dreams can come true."

The young fashion designer who says she gets her sense of fashion from her mom and grandmother would often act as their stylist.

"She would compliment us and offer her approval if she liked our outfits," Woods said. "Since the age of five she has shown interest in Barbie dolls and fashion, trying her best to match her Barbie doll clothing with her own outfit for the day."

Spending most of her time being meticulous over her designs, Nevaeh said she likes to make her barbies stand out.

"Nevaeh is very particular and she knows exactly what she likes," Woods said.

Nevaeh's creativity expands beyond fashion, though. She enjoys arts and crafts and nail art. She says it's a way for her to express herself.

The young powerhouse has plans of starting her own business called SaSha Sew Amazing and wants to encourage other girls like herself to follow their dreams.
