The trailer for Kevin Hart's and Tiffany Haddish's comedy Night School dropped on this week, but it turns out these two of Hollywood's hottest comedians go way back.
You may remember from Haddish's Vanity Fair interview that she first met Hart in 2005, while she was homeless and living out of her car.
This week, Hart reminisced about that time and his longtime friendship with Haddish on Instagram:
"I had no idea until I saw a sh*tload of clothes in her car outside of a comedy club in LA," Hart wrote in the caption. "I asked her what was going on and she down played [sic] the situation."
He then recalled giving her all the money he had on him at the time, which was $300.
"This woman never let her life situation beat her," Hart continued. "She stayed true to her dreams and bust her ass to get where she is today and now she's my damn CO-STAR in my new movie NIGHT SCHOOL …. GOD IS TRULY AMAZING."
Talk about an inspirational message! Haddish truly went from homeless to co-starring with Hart! Of course, Hart couldn't let the moment go without a joke, so he finished the heartwarming message with, "P.S. I want my $300 back now."
Haddish also posted her version on Instagram to celebrate the upcoming movie's trailer release, in what she called a "full circle moment."
In the caption, Haddish recalled that fateful meeting with Hart, which not only resulted in $300 for a hotel, but also some priceless nuggets of wisdom. Hart encouraged her to make a list of a goals and to start working toward those goals.
"I did just that and over the years Kevin has always been the Big little Brother I never had," wrote Haddish. "Thank you Kevin for always being willing to teach me and letting me know when I was making mistakes."
True friendship!
Oh, and Haddish addressed that payback joke of Hart's. "Now when I am in Forbes Magazine as one of the highest paid actresses in the world, I will pay you for that $300 back," she quipped, clearly referencing Hart's Forbes feat.
It's a great joke, but if Haddish's previous list of goals is any indication, she can realistically hit that goal as well!
Night School releases in theaters September 28.
