In a historic vote,  the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution on Tuesday to make Juneteenth a national holiday. If the bill becomes law, June 19 will be observed as "Juneteenth National Independence Day."

Juneteenth is believed to be the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the abolition of slavery in America. From its roots in Galveston, Texas where the last slaves received notice about their freedom, until now, Juneteenth has represented Black freedom.

If the bill is passed in the House and signed by the president, Juneteenth would become the 11th annual federal holiday.

But while waiting for lawmakers to vote on the bill, Twitter didn't disappoint with their reactions about how the holiday will be coopted by the agendas of white folks and using the holiday to sell products.

Here are some of the funniest reactions from Twitter about Juneteenth sales.

While some are looking forward to the day being recognized as a federal holiday, others were stuck on the idea that Juneteenth could morph into just another day to sell merchandise.

Without question, we can always count on Twitter to bring the truth and some laughs.
