Queen Sugar’s premiere episode can’t come soon enough — but for OWN, it didn’t have to. Before the season one premiere on September 6, the network renewed the Ava DuVernay-directed series was for a 16-episode second season.
The show has wowed us all already with its star-studded cast and #InclusiveCrew. Based on Natalie Baszile’s novel, the show is set is Louisiana and has been filming in New Orleans. With Oprah Winfrey as executive producer, the buzz around the project is big. And if this latest update is any indicator, it’s also well-deserved.
