Sixth-grader Faith Fennidy got an amazing reminder that her black is beautiful when she was invited to this year's Black Girls Rock!

BET's annual award show to honor the fantastic black women around the globe aired on Sunday, adding one deserving student to its roster.

In August, Fennidy was left in tears when her Louisianna private school sent her home for wearing braids. Christ the King Elementary School said Fennidy's hairstyle didn't comply with its dress code. Instead of allowing a blow to her confidence to fester, the My Black is Beautiful team stepped in and invited her to the show.

Women such as singer Fantasia, actress Naturi Naughton, singer H.E.R. and more offered encouraging words to Faith as a reminder that her hair is her crown, and she should never be ashamed of it.

"Baby girl, don't let this get you down," Fantasia told her. "Continue to rock your braids, or however else you want to wear your hair. Let no one change you."

“We jumped in immediately because it is so important that young black women feel uplifted and have the space to know that they’re loved and valued,” Lela Coffey, Procter and Gamble’s multicultural beauty brand director said of her decision to invite Fennidy. “You could not ask for a better environment where they are recognizing and awarding black female excellence, trailblazers and barrier-busting women. Faith is going to be one of those women one day.”

Fennidy not only had the opportunity to attend the show, but she also worked the red carpet with style expert Tai Beauchamp.

“I saw myself in this girl,” Beauchamp said. “I realized our responsibility as adults is to not just raise each [other] up, but to see ourselves in them because that’s when we push hardest. We have to equip them to go out into the world to be their best selves."

“This has been a very difficult time for our family. So we just say, thank you to My Black is Beautiful for bringing Faith here to experience Black Girls Rock! This just lifted her spirits and shows her that she is loved,” Faith’s mom, Montelle Fennidy, said.

You and your braids rock, Faith. Never forget it.
