As the old gospel song goes, everyday there are instances showing that God "isn't through with us yet."
That was apparently the case in Greenville, South Carolina where a small, predominately black church received an anonymous $2,000 dollar donation from a repentant racist.
The donation was accompanied by an apology note, stating that the former "terrible racist" was appalled by their previous thoughts and actions and that the donation sought to serve as a "heartfelt apology to the African American community, as a sign of God's love for you and a sign of my love for you as well."
While the donation will be used for community programs, the church leader noted that the real miracle was the ability for a heart to change through grace.
The Rev. Michael Sullivan of Nicholtown Presbyterian Church shared his reaction to the note, saying, "when I read the letter, I said 'Wow … Look at how God works."
While there has been a recent upswing of hateful racists acts including nooses at our museums and slurs painted on our homes, sizable donations accompanied by an apology is a welcomed alternative to the foolishness.
