Actress Awkwafina, who has been criticized for misappropriating Black culture, is facing more backlash after being nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Twitter users immediately followed up with criticism on Tuesday after the 33-year-old Asian actress received the nomination for outstanding character voice-over performance in Disney's Raya
and the Last Dragon

As Blavity previously reported, Awkwafina said she doesn’t audition for roles where she’d have to use an Asian accent or mock the Asian community. At the same time, the actress has been called out for using a “Blaccent” in her roles. As a result, the Crazy Rich Asians star has been slammed for her alleged hypocrisy.

People are also debating on whether a non-Black person can receive an award from the NAACP.

Some who are defending the NAACP say the organization stands for the "advancement of colored people" in general.

Still, the main source of outrage for most people is Awkwafina's habit of mocking Black people.

The controversial Hollywood star rose to fame in 2012 when she came out with her song “My Vag,” rapping about her private area.
