Black music can be credited as the art form that details the narrative of the Black experience so effortlessly. From R&B to country music, Black artists have used their unique talents to express the beauty of blackness for decades.

To embrace the influence of Black music firsthand, Spotify will host a Phenomenal Black Music Pop-Up experience in New York from Feb. 29 to Mar. 1. Through its Black History Is Now platform, Spotify is highlighting Phenomenal Black Music that has shaped experiences across the African diaspora through a series of playlists from some of our favorite artists.

Attendees of the pop-up event will be able to learn more about the contributions of Black artists and creators through entertainment and brilliant storytelling from curator, Jewel Wicker. In support of Black creators, customized merch designed by fashion designer, Joe Freshgoods and mixed-media artist, Jamila Okubo will be on display.

The melodies and beats created by Black artists have taught the world about the beauty of Black love, the importance of community and celebration. The unique experience will highlight the music and moments that defined the culture. In the past year, Black artists have continued to create huge milestones that have echoed through popular culture, adding more reasons why we should recognize Black history.

Powerful songs and underlying messages have been used as guiding lights to advocate and celebrate our community. This Black History Month, Spotify wants to recognize Black music and its influence on popular culture spanning the past and into the new decade with this hands-on experience.

The Phenomenal Black Music Pop-Up experience will take place on Saturday, Feb. 29, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 109 Wooster NYC. Learn more about how to attend the pop-up shop [Black History Is Now].
