There is nothing quite like a fresh fade and a crispy line up for a quick boost of confidence and swag. The right barber can change your life, and that's exactly what Brennon Jones is doing with his project called "Haircuts 4 the Homeless." The 29-year-old barber facilitates this mission by connecting his clippers to a car battery to create a mobile shop wherever there is a need. “I’ll be out here every day that I can. I'll go out to West Philly, North Philly, every section of Philadelphia, Chester, Camden and cut hair," Jones said in an interview with BOTWC. He has provided nearly 200 free street cuts to the homeless in Philadelphia. "I just wanted to provide something different than some change or a couple dollars," he said. "I'm blessed with a talent, so why not share it and make someone’s day? I just wanted to give back."
For Jones, this is no short-term investment. "I will never stop I’m invested. My heart is invested," he said. "I never took barbering so serious until now." In addition to free haircuts, the Philly Barber also distributes bag lunches and toiletries to his street clientele, and his charitable ambitions don't stop there. He is planning something big for this Thanksgiving. "I want to rent a hall and have a big dinner for them all to come to," he said.
With the launch of the 'Cutz Of Compassion' tour on May 28th, Jones set out to expand his mission beyond Philly, providing his services across seven cities. For Jones this is about more than just dolling out free haircuts, he views his mission as a ministry. "When you’re on a mission and God has put you on this path nothing should stop you."
