15-year-old Michael Ramirez, from Rancho Cordova, was reported missing back on June 9, 2020, but according to his family, the last time he was seen at home was on May 18, 2020. Allegedly, Ramirez ran away from home after disagreements with his aunt and uncle about their strict rules.

According to the sheriff’s office, the teenager, now 17, didn’t return home until March 11 of this year.  KCRA reported that family members of Ramirez confirmed he had been living with a former friend for the last two years and the teacher is that friend’s mother.

Sacramento County Sherrif’s Office said Holga Castillo Olivares, 61, is facing charges related to the detention of a minor with intent to conceal from parents and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Olivares is an Alice Birney Waldorf Inspired K-8 school employee, and the Sacramento City Unified School District has placed her on administrative leave while the investigation continues.  They also noted that the charges against the educator are for acts unrelated to her assigned duties.

KCRA also notes that jail records show Olivares is scheduled for court on Monday, and she was detained at the school after students were dismissed for the day.

The Sacramento City Unified School District declined further comments due to it being a personnel matter.
