nullCalling all Latin American filmmakers, Good Pitch is returning to Buenos Aires in April 2015. Applications are open right now, until October 1st.

Good Pitch is an event starting with an intensive 2-day campaign development workshop, followed by the day-long live event. It brings together filmmakers with NGOs, foundations, philanthropists, brands and media around leading social issues – to forge coalitions and campaigns that are good for the partners, good for the films and good for society.

Good Pitch is a partnership between BRITDOC and Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program. BRITDOC is a nonprofit founded by Channel 4 Television and supported by PUMA, Bertha Foundation and several other Foundations in the UK and the USA.

WHICH FILMS ARE GOOD PITCH FILMS?

Film which tackle a national or global issue – have something important to show us about the world or ourselves. Welcome are films of any style – personal, observational, essays, presenter-led, verité… Films at any stage from early production to completion and even early festival circuit; although rough cut stage is ideal. Films of 60+ minutes in length. Films can apply to multiple Good Pitches – as your film progresses, please feel free to apply again.

WHAT DOES GOOD PITCH DELIVER?

Not every film gets funding from Good Pitch – for either their films or their campaigns. The program has raised over $11,000,000 so far but only 74% of projects received that funding, on a scale from just $5,000 up to $1.4m.

WHICH FILMMAKERS ARE GOOD PITCH FILMMAKERS?

Filmmakers committed to outreach goals and audience engagement ambitions (if you only want completion money for your film, Good Pitch is not for you). Filmmakers looking for partners and collaborators to make their films truly influential and not just commercially successful (if you only want to sell your film to a distributor, Good Pitch is not for you).

THE APPLICATION & SELECTION

You must submit a trailer or key sequence of no more than 10 minutes. You can upload your material after you’ve submitted your written application, as long as it is before the closing date & time.

You must also record and upload a 2-minute video of yourself, saying why you want to make this film and what want it to achieve. The video can be very rough and ready – recorded on a flipcam, iphone, on your computer – anything.

WHICH PITCH?

Good Pitch holds events across the world. When deciding which pitch to apply for, you should decide which city is appropriate for your project. Where are your potential partners based and where do you hope to undertake your outreach?

Applying for Good Pitch is free, but travel and accommodation is the responsibility of filmmakers, so you should also consider where you can afford to get yourself to. Please only apply for a city which is a realistic fit for your project and budget.

AND IF YOU’RE SELECTED?

If you are selected, you and your film will be workshopped for a 3 month period, completely gratis. In this time you will collaborate with Good Pitch to identify the best partners, funders and advocates for your project from across society.
