Right-winged, political commentator Candace Owens is back in the news again for accusing Amazon of damaging copies of her newly released book The Blackout before shipping them out.
Owens tweeted on Saturday that Amazon employees were stomping and smearing Vaseline on the books and shared pictures of the copies with apparent marks on them.
The pettiness will do nothing to thwart sales. Let’s try to get the next 100,000 that I plan to sell out of your warehouse, treated with a bit more respect by the looney lefties packing the product, please. https://t.co/kC80M2n1ex

She also wrote that roughly 1,000 people wrote her to corroborate the claim.
Dear @amazon. About 1,000 people have written to let me know that your employees appear to be stomping on and in this case, smearing Vaseline on my books before mailing them. I know it must have pained you to ship out all 90,000 copies you had in stock— but this is unacceptable. pic.twitter.com/ADwXmhJDn5

Some people replied to her tweet, saying their books came in the mail damaged, too.
My book came that way as well…????????♂️ pic.twitter.com/LFek8J59Zj

Another follower tweeted his love of the book and encouraged folks to buy it digitally to avoid the greasy mess.
This book is truly an eye opener and educational. I learnt so much about history and the deliberate poisoning of black communities/culture. Thanks for the book and the reality check! Also guys you can buy a digital copy on iBooks like I did if you want to avoid Vaseline ????

Someone else accused the super retailer of “book blocking,” after Amazon required a signature to get their copy of the novel.
‼️ For some reason, Amazon has shipped mine via UPS with signature required! I missed them once and now I have to go to a UPS store to pickup! This has NEVER happened with any other Amazon delivery and I get several a month. I thought for sure it’s only because it’s your book!

Earlier this month, Owens rode the coattails of LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva after he called on LeBron James to contribute to the financial reward for a man accused of shooting two LA County Sheriff's Department deputies.
“Why does this happen? Because pea-brained celebrities that are idolized like @KingJames tell young black men that they are ‘literally being hunted,'" she wrote of the shooting. "This is the natural result of such hyperbolic, dishonest rhetoric. The racist, anti-police, black lives matter LIE is to blame.”
Because of Owens’ conservative and often off-putting views, comedian Dave Chappelle and even her own political party have targeted the outspoken author.
“I can’t think of a worse way to make money. She is the most articulate idiot I’ve ever seen in my f**king life. She’s so articulate she can tell you how f**king stupid she is precisely,” Chappelle said of Owens back in June, as Blavity previously reported.
