Update (Oct. 27, 2021): Penn Badgley appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night, where he discussed the recent Twitter exchange with Cardi B that had fans giddy. The "Money" rapper wants to join Netflix thriller You for season 4, and she’s got a pretty good idea of how writers could add her in.
Following her and Penn Badgley’s blossoming friendship on social media, the “Up” rapper revealed she has some plans for the next season, which should pick up with Joe (Badgley) in Paris.
"So it's episode 1 and I'm at Paris Fashion week shutting it down! I turn around and there stands YOU," she wrote on Twitter, per People. "Ok finish it off @netflix."
Badgley gushed over his new friend during his visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he avoided answering whether there could be a potential Cardi B cameo coming up. Kimmel asked the star if the studio had made any plans as of yet, but Badgley said he wasn’t aware of anything at the moment.
"Well, I don't know," the Gossip Girl alum said. "I mean, I definitely can't say, but there is actually, I believe, this is true: There's an actual Change.org petition."
Kimmel prodded further.
"I can't say because I don't know,” Badgley explained. "I actually don't know. I'm not being coy."
Fans created the petition five days ago and it’s already inching closer to its goal of 1,000 signatures. At the time of publishing, the petition sits at 880 signatures. With the attention it’s already received and the obvious charismatic chemistry between the two, things could go in favor of the fans.
Original (Oct. 21, 2021): While it's common for celebrities to even be fans of each other, Cardi B and Netflix's You leading actor Penn Badgley's new friendship is just too cute.
During a resurfaced 2019 interview promoting the hit series, Badgley sang the rapper's praises for her relationship and connection with fans, BuzzFeed reports.
"I really appreciate people who have this sort of totally second-nature relationship with [social media]," the actor said before adding that "Cardi B is a great example of that."
"She has such an authentic relationship. To Me, it's this incredibly nuanced place to be. Despite what many might judge as antics and all this, I feel like she has an incredibly authentic relationship to that, and that's why people like her so much," he continued.
The resurfaced clip, much to Cardi B's surprise, assured the New York native that she's "famous, famous."
"OOOOMMFFFGGGGGG HE KNOWS ME !!!" she tweeted.
OOOOMMFFFGGGGGG HE KNOWS ME !!!????????????????????????????????OMMMGGGG!!!!!!Yoooo like I’m famous famous https://t.co/Z7MFQc2t2i

Badgley, seemingly speechless over the rapper's response, only responded with a mere utter.

As if their budding friendship wasn't enough, the two even changed their Twitter profile pictures to each other.

Taking notice of Badgley switching his profile picture first, Cardi B followed suit and acknowledged the swift change.

But others were comically hesitant about Cardi B being on Badgley's radar, playing off of his stalker character in You.
We do not need our good sis @iamcardib on Joe’s radar ???????????? this is hilarious

Well well… I knew it was just a matter until I got you attention. The others were just… stepping stones if you may call them that. Divide and conquer is typically a phrase… I took the liberty of making it a more direct and literal approach to get rid of the others for you. pic.twitter.com/VOCGT8awEl

The twisted Netflix series You follows the manager of a bookstore, played by Badgley, who becomes obsessed with women and goes to extreme limits to profess his desire for them, according to Netflix's website.
