Alicia Renee Newby, a 29-year-old mother of six, is being accused of stealing multiple people’s identities, including that of actress Taraji P. Henson.
As reported by the Chicago Tribune, Newby allegedly collected thousands of dollars in merchandise using fake addresses. The Cook County Police Department and financial crime unit investigated Newby and found that she had acquired more than $12,000 in fraudulent transactions, $4,000 of which was flagged by Henson’s management last year.
Newby reportedly accessed the What Men Want actress’ email, where she obtained private information such as phone numbers, addresses, and financial accounts.
A string of identity theft and fraudulent cases have been linked to Newby, who scammed JP Morgan Chase, American Express, and PayPal. Authorities say that the Chicago woman has skipped out on rent, leaving behind thousands of dollars in damage, and has also demanded the U.S. Postal Service to deliver packages to one of her fake addresses.
According to Fox 32, the Chicago mother is being charged with continuing a financial crime enterprise. She was released on a $10,000 signature bail with orders not to contact witnesses or victims.
There has been no comment from Henson on the incident.
