There is an undeniable societal shame that comes with having a mental illness, especially in the black community, even more through the issue of hypermasculinity. Mohamed Abdullahi, a black Muslim artist from Seattle, Washington recently created a short film tackling this issue. The film, Concealed,  follows a boy who struggles with the stigma of mental health as well as an eating disorder. The goal of the film is to tackle some of the problems in society when it comes to mental health, specifically as it surrounds men.

Abdullahi is currently a college student who works on short films that relate to social issues. His last short film focused on police brutality and the effect it has on the black community. That short film was screened at film festivals in LA, and he plans to make it into a feature film soon.
