D.L. Hughley unleashed a lengthy response to Mo’Nique after she called out the comedian over a contract dispute during her performance in Detroit on Saturday. Hughley vented during his radio show on Tuesday and vehemently spoke out against Mo’Nique, who said that she was supposed to be the headliner for the Comedy Explosion in Detroit.

Hughley said the comedian showed up to the show in Detroit two minutes before the time she was expected to arrive. According to Hughley, Mo’Nique arrived late in an effort to change the order of the show and make herself the headliner.

“The oldest trick in the world is, if I wanna change the order and I don’t have merit, I’ll try to make people wait so long that everybody gets in there and goes ‘please just go so we can avoid a conflict,” Hughley said.

The 59-year-old said he hasn’t seen Mo’Nique in years and she never spoke to him about the contract dispute.

“I didn’t see her at the venue before, during or after,” he said.

As Blavity previously reported, Mo’Nique spoke about the alleged details of her contract while on stage.

“That’s what the motherf**king contract says … Mo’Nique is to be the last motherf**king person on the got damn stage. She is the headliner. That’s what I signed the contract for,” she said, according to HotNewHipHop

The Precious actress also took personal shots at Hughley, who responded to the insults on Tuesday.

“She proceeds to eviscerate me,” he said. “Not just me, but Steve Harvey, my wife, my dog later on in subsequent conversations. What did any of that have to do with the alleged contract dispute?”

Hughley bashed Mo’Nique for drawing attention to herself while people are coming to a comedy show to find relief after constantly hearing tragic news in recent weeks, including the mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas.

“You spend half of your time talking about your grievances and what you didn’t get, who did this to you,” he said.

Hughley also compared Mo’Nique to an arsonist, saying she set the stage on fire.

“Arsonist set s**t on fire and try to see the damage it left,” he said. “But I blame myself. Saying ‘yes’ to you is an occupational hazard.”

The comedian echoed his statement on Instagram on Tuesday as he continued to defend himself against the allegations.

Precious was not a movie,” he said on his radio show. “Precious was an autobiography. That is who you are literally.”

The two entertainers have been going back and forth on social media as they try to prove who is right about the details in the contract. Hughley posted images of the contract to prove that he was the headlining act for The Comedy Explosion show.

Mo’Nique also provided documentation to show that she was designated as the headliner.
