Donald Trump believes a black man who calls slavery is a choice and his reality star wife have boosted his approval ratings in the black community.

Kim Kardashian West met with President Trump recently to discuss prison reform.

Bloomberg reports Trump told Kardashian West she and her husband, Kanye West, have helped him garner increased support from black voters during the meeting, according to two sources.

This isn’t the first time 45 has made that claim. He told a crowd at a National Rifle Association’s conference in early May Kanye had pushed his black approval rating up 10 percent.

“Kanye West must have some power, because you probably saw I doubled my African American poll numbers. We went from 11 to 22 in one week,” Trump bragged.

The numbers Trump is referring to are misleading, at best.

While the data comes from a weekly Reuters tracking poll of black men that did, in fact, show a 10 percent rise from April 22 to April 29, Reuters said its sample size was too small to be reliable.

Monthly data from the same poll shows a rise from 12 percent in April to 18 percent in May. The rate among black men rose from 16 percent to 22 percent for that period.

While Kanye's pro-Trump statements were made during this period, it isn't clear what led to the bump.
