Shadow and Act has an exclusive preview of the upcoming film, The Plus One, starring Cedric the Entertainer, Ashanti, Michelle Hurd and more.

The film is coming to theaters on Sept. 29 and will be available on demand and digital platforms on Oct. 23.

The movie’s cast also includes B.J. Britt, Cassandra Scerbo, Julissa Bermudez, Wesley Armstrong, Jonathan Bennett and Brendan Bradley.

The rom-com is directed by Erik White. Brendan Andolsek Bradley and Austin Highsmith Garces wrote the script and the producers are Danny Roth, Demetrius Spencer, John Mehrer, Danny Chan, Tina Douglas and Stephan Dweck.

The story revolves around Lizzie, played by Ashanti, who is determined to have the perfect destination wedding with the support of her adoring father, portrayed by Cedric the Entertainer. However, Lizzie’s meticulously planned wedding turns into chaos when her “man-of-honor,” Marshall (Bennett), brings his troublesome ex-girlfriend, Marie. As Lizzie’s dream of a happily ever after is threatened, her friends and family rally together to prevent her from losing her sanity.
