Kansas City GOP official Michael Kalny resigned from his position on Wednesday after threatening to send Democratic Congresswoman-elect Sharice Davids "backpacking to the reservation."
The former precinct committee member sent a private message to Johnson County Democratic Women’s North Chapter President Anne Pritchett on Sunday night.
"Little Ms. Pritchett – you and your comrades' stealth attack on Yoder is going to blow up in your leftist face," Kalny wrote. "The REAL REPUBLICANS will remember what the scum DEMOCRATS tried to do to Kavanaugh in November. Your radical socialist kickboxing lesbian Indian will be sent backpacking to the reservation."
During Tuesday's midterm elections, Davids became the first lesbian Native-American elected to the United States Congress.
The candidate spoke with the Kansas City Star sharing her shock at the message.
“I’m stunned,” she said. David’s explained that Kalny’s message “doesn’t represent Kansas values, and it doesn’t represent the values of the Republicans we know, many who support this campaign.”
C.J. Grover, a spokesman for Kevin Yoder, also spoke out in defense against Kalny’s statements.
“Kevin (Yoder) doesn’t believe this type of rhetoric is appropriate at all. It’s unacceptable,” he said. “These kind of nasty personal attacks are all too prevalent in politics these days, and it needs to stop.”
Kalny did not appear to be apologetic in a statement made to the newspaper.
“What is this lady trying to accomplish?” Kalny said.
