The city of Flint, Michigan has been facing a devastating state of emergency in recent months. Back in February of 2015, the city’s water tested at 104 parts per billion (ppb) lead. Things became progressively worse within a month, as in March the water was tested again and found 397 (ppb) lead. To date, the highest level of lead found in the water was tested at an astonishing 13,000 (ppb.)

In response, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has come to terms with the severity of the ordeal, declaring a state of emergency.

While government officials decide the best course of action from a political standpoint, there are several grassroots initiatives actively teaming up to help the residents of Flint. If you’ve been searching for a way to get involved, look no further.
