Latto’s much-anticipated dance track with renowned Congolese Canadian pop singer-songwriter LU KALA dropped Friday, along with a flashy video, and these ladies look amazing!

Ever since its inception, pop music has been at once a broadly inclusive and highly niche genre.

“It’s been an uphill battle for me. Not that I ever thought anything about this would be easy… but I’m constantly in spaces in pop music where I am the only woman or the only Black person in the room,” LU KALA said, Complex reported.

The two artists began working together as soon as Latto heard the hook, which LU KALA had written during a session in Los Angeles in March 2022.

“It was a really fun collaborative atmosphere, which inspired me to write this hook that’s really fun and pop,” LU KALA told Blavity. “After Latto heard it, she wrote her verses with her witty flair to it. From then, it took on a whole new life!”

The Toronto-raised artist, born Lusamba Vanessa Kalala, is nothing like anyone would ever guess her to be. She has blazing vocals and rocks out of her signature raging orange hair. She is stunning, fashionable and embodies an air of assuredness with undeniable talents.

She’ll “never be that picture, baby,” she admitted in her wildly popular 2021 breakout single “DCMO (Don’t Count Me Out).” However, the three words she chose to use to introduce her music to anyone who may be just getting into it are ubiquitously gracious: honest, vulnerable and fun.

This sound is undoubtedly in LU KALA’s field of expertise. The feedback for her most recent single, “Pretty Girl Era,” has been great thus far. It’s a song about feeling good and being pleased with how you look in the mirror and is a dance track about self-love that girls can get behind.

“Wrote this song because this is really where I’m at rn, feel amazing about myself,” she explained on TikTok.

This song is exactly how I’ve been feeling lately, idc I’m in my P.G.E🥰 #prettygirlera #plussize #indiemusic #singer
