A fed-up granny was arrested for slapping her granddaughter with her slipper.

In true black grandma fashion, 95-year-old Hattie Reynolds whacked Janeen Williams, her 46-year-old granddaughter, with a shoe to get her out of bed because she was sick and tired of her granddaughter staying in bed all day with the air conditioning running.

When Williams wouldn’t budge, Reynolds called the police to get her to leave the premises.

“I got a gran in my bed and I can’t … get her out from my bed,” Reynolds said during the call. “I ain’t got nothing to pay bill on air condition all the time for her to go into the room.”

According to The Daytona Beach News-Journal, Reynolds told the police about the slap and due to strict domestic violence laws, she was arrested. Reynold’s granddaughter did not press charges and refused to give a statement. She was held for 24 hours and released.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri admitted Reynolds was not a threat, but said the law is the law.

“If your wife reported that you threatened to hit her, you would be arrested because that is a domestic violence assault,” Capri said. “I just feel bad for her, but the officers did their job as required by the law.”

Defense attorney Don Dempsey disagreed, however.

“They don’t have to make an arrest,” Dempsey said. “They have the option to issue a notice to appear or make a complaint affidavit and forward that to the State Attorney’s Office for a final decision.”

We bet that granddaughter will get her butt outta bed from now on!
