As she prepares for her new movie Bruised to hit Netflix, Halle Berry revealed that the movie's accompanying all-female soundtrack, which she executive produced alongside Cardi B, will soon be available on streaming platforms. The actress announced that the first single, entitled "Scared" and by City Girls, will be released on Friday.

"Soooooo excited to announce the first all-female Hip-Hop project — The music of Bruised on Netflix," she wrote under a short video showcasing the list of women artists featured on the soundtrack. "Never been a scared b**h!"

Fans showed their excitement for the upcoming album on Twitter, telling the star how eager they were to watch the fighter flick and listen to the all-female album.

"I’m supporting!!! Cardi goes hard for female rappers. Thanks Halle," one user wrote.

Bruised, which will be released on Netflix on Nov. 24, will serve as the Oscar winner's directorial debut. She stars in the independent drama as Jackie Justice, an MMA fighter who's been shunned from the limelight but has an itching desire to fight her way back into the ring one more time. The actress, now a stunning 54-year-old, told Entertainment Weekly that when she first read the script, she couldn't see how the role would fit her. 

"They gave me the script and I loved the story, but it was written for a twentysomething Irish Catholic white woman," Berry said. "I couldn't get it out of my mind, so I thought, is it possible that this could be reimagined for someone like me? Because I think I have a take on it that could actually work — making it about a middle-aged Black woman, someone fighting for a last chance rather than another chance."

"When you're young we all get chances, they're a dime a dozen. But when you're at a certain stage in life it becomes something more impactful and meaningful, right? So about six months later when [Lively] decided in her own time that it wasn't for her, I went to the producer, Basil Iwanyk, who I'd just done John Wick 3 with, and gave him my pitch. And he said, 'Great, we love that idea. Now go find a director," she said.

The biting tale would prove to be a difficult feat for Berry, whose catalog includes several action films like Catwoman and X-Men. She shared with the outlet that she broke two ribs during her first days on set, though that wasn't a deterrent for her. Berry decided she would continue to roll with the punches. 

"I told the director about it, they told the insurance. We had to shut down for months and it was a big ordeal. On this, because it was an independent movie, we didn't have a big budget," she said. "The director in me said, 'I didn't come this far and work this hard to go home.'"
