Houston rapper Scarface is recovering after testing positive for the coronavirus. The 49-year-old announced the news in an interview with his longtime band member, Willie D, on his YouTube channel.

“This whole three weeks have been an ordeal,” the rapper said. “It’s the craziest s**t I have ever done and seen in my life. I've been to the point where I just felt like I was just gone die."

The Geto Boys group member, who also suffers from pneumonia, said he couldn't breathe and his stomach was completely empty because he was throwing up so much. Making matters worse, the artist said he had to be swabbed multiple times because the doctors misplaced his test. He added that the toilet in the hospital rooms was like a jailhouse, where "you pull it open and a metal toilet pop out." 

Scarface said he felt an itch in his throat when he woke up one morning. He then called his doctor and took the recommended medicine. In a few days, however, the rapper said his fever went up as high as 103 degrees.

When he went to the ER, the musician said "he was freezing to death." Scarface explained that doctors stuck needles through his arms and gave him antibiotics through his veins. 

"I couldn't take it," he said. 

The 49-year-old left the hospital two days later without knowing if he has the virus. He then came back to the hospital a few days later and felt worse.

"They swab my nose, trying to find out if I got coronavirus," he said. "Came back again next Wednesday, Thursday, nothing."

But the rapper finally got a call late one night and was told he has tested positive.

"I haven't been nowhere," he said. "I ain't been in no planes, I ain't been in no restaurants. But that s**t came up. I got the coronavirus, bro."

The plan now is to "stay away from everybody."

"I may be on the back end of it," Scarface said. "I probably had it for so long. It's been to a point where I'd be laying down and I couldn't get comfortable because it was like an elephant sitting on my chest. I could not breathe. I couldn't sit up. I couldn't lay down."

To the people who still may not be taking the virus seriously, the artist said: "this s**t is not fake."

Willie D offered his own piece of advice.

"It's bad out there," he said. "It's good to have a good time, but don't be silly. Don't take your life for granted. Don't be out there playing around and shaking the dice with your life." 

After going through a near-death experience, Scarface said he might try some new adventures when it's safe to go out again.

"My life been real reserved," he said. "I ain't been to the Grand Canyon and bungee jumped out of helicopters. I'm finna go live now. Sky diving and s**t, I'm finna go do that. I'm gonna go on a Safari trip."

The rapper said he felt what it's like to die for the first time in his life.

"I'm hoping this conversation that we having can save some lives," he said.

According to CNN, Wednesday was one of the deadliest days in the U.S., with the coronavirus causing more than 200 deaths. The total number of known cases in the United States is now more than 82,000.
