An Illinois police officer resigned after investigators connected him to a series of racist social media posts that resurfaced online, HuffPost reports.

Aaron Paul Nichols, 46, stepped down from his position on Tuesday, shortly after the Springfield Police Department announced that they were launching an investigation into the posts. The post were first revealed on Thursday by the Anonymous Comrades Collective (ACC), a group of anti-fascist researches that go after white supremacists and neo-Nazis, HuffPost reports.

Investigators said that Nichols partially revealed his face on Gab, a far-right social media platform. In a post captioned “Chinese,” the 46-year-old allegedly shared a close up of his mouth and chin.

In another post, the former officer is accused of writing “I have metal stamps. I think I’ll just stamp 14/88 into every n****r quarter I get.”

According to the HuffPost, the number 14 signifies a white supremacist slogan, and 88 is code for “Heil Hitler.”

Nichols is also accused of saying Black people “ruin everything” and that “Hitler did nothing wrong.”

“I’ll say it in English. I am a supporter of as many holocausts as it takes to cleanse this world of talmudic influence,” the former officer allegedly wrote in another post.

Springfield Police Chief Ken Scarlette said that his office has already started the decertification process, the State Journal-Register reports.

“In my opinion, he should not be a certified police officer in the state of Illinois as a result of the egregious actions that were uncovered,” he said.

Others are asking Sangamon County State’s Attorney Dan Wright to conduct an investigation into “all police cases, reports and any prosecutions that stemmed from police work conducted by Officer Aaron Paul Nichols during his tenure at the Springfield Police Department.”
