Joe Biden has put his foot in his mouth again during an unfortunate speech in Iowa.
On Thursday, the Democratic presidential hopeful spoke about discrimination faced by students in low-income neighborhoods per NBC News.
“We have this notion that somehow if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids,” Biden said.
Quickly realizing his error of equating poor communities with those that are Black and brown, after a brief pause, Biden added "wealthy kids, black kids, Asian kids.”
The gaffe comes amid waves of other criticisms of the former vice president.
During last week's Democratic debates, Biden greeted fellow presidential candidate Kamala Harris by saying, "go easy on me, kid." Many found the remark to be belittling given Harris is a grown woman. The comment came after the California senator grilled him in the first round about his past associations with segregationists.
Prior to the debates, Biden was lambasted for the aforementioned history with segregationists, as Blavity previously reported, as well as claims he's been "too touchy" around several women.
