The EP dropped on Friday morning, and the 19-year-old Chicago rapper celebrated the occasion on Thursday evening with a poppin’ release party at The Queensberry in Los Angeles.
BlavityU got the opportunity to briefly sit down with Kidd Kenn at the event, and the Windy City rapper spoke on the vibe behind Grown.
“Bad bitch. It’s giving very much what I wasn’t giving a couple years ago. It’s giving, literally, that bitch,” he said. “I sound better, I look better, I am better. I’m a whole new person, I’m on a whole new level. And it’s giving what the girls like giving nowadays.”
Going off of this, he shared what he hopes his die-hard fans take away from this new project.
“I hope they listen to it and be like, ‘Oh my God, this b***h has grown literally from kindergarten all the way to high school. This b***h is a grown up now. This b***h sounds good, this b***h is s**ting on every b***h that look her way. That’s all I want to give, literally. I want the girls to feel good about theyself, and that’s what I’m here to make them do,” Kidd Kenn told BlavityU.
We also asked the rapper to describe how he and Delli Boe, an artist Kidd Kenn has collabed with on numerous tracks, including “At It Again” and “Freestyle,” built off of each other in the studio.
“The first time we linked together, it went viral. The world got it,” he began. “If y’all get it, it’s nothing to really explain. Y’all know what me and Delli give when me and Delli is coming together.”
“I love Delli — I can’t wait [for fans] to see what we got coming together,” he continued.
Staying on the subject of his various collaborators — which includes artists like Baby Tate, Saucy Santana and Rico Nasty — we asked Kidd Kenn who else he hopes to work with in the future.
“The only person I wanna collab with is Nicki Minaj,” he proclaimed. “I wanna collab with Nicki, and that’s the only b***h I’m looking to collab with. After that, I don’t wanna collab with nobody. I want Nicki Minaj.”
“I’m a Barb — I’m a big Barb, at that. And I’m a rapper, and I look good and we match each other’s energy,” Kidd Kenn added.
Finally, we asked the rapper where he sees himself in a couple of years when he hits 21.
“When I’m 21, I see myself running the game. Running the world. I see myself doing everything. I’m not just gon’ be doing music. Imma be on TV, Imma be in everything,” Kidd Kenn said.
“I’m gonna be working with all the biggest artists. Imma be in fashion. Imma be doing the big one, and I just can’t wait for y’all to see it,” he added. “Just know when you see me in a couple years, it’s that. Stop playin’. Never been the baddest b***h, but I am the baddest b***h.”
