Lena Waithe is wearing the glow of love while simultaneously shaking up Hollywood. She recently graced the cover of Vanity Fair and opened up about her wedding plans.

In an interview with People, the writer, actress and producer shared the stress of wedding planning with her long-time girlfriend Alana Mayo. Mayo is a film production executive in L.A.

“It’s a little nutty,” Waithe said. “I’m trying to balance it out, but I’m grateful.”

Both women are balancing high demanding careers, but hope to keep their special day simple. “It’s going to be super small, crazy small,” Waithe said. “It’s almost like an excuse to have fun with our friends.”

Even with their hectic schedules, Waithe said she wants the wedding to be a breeze. "We’re anti-stress,” she said. “We’re trying to make it not a stressful situation, that’s our goal."

Waithe proposed to Mayo last year on Thanksgiving, ironically enough, while the two were on a trip to Tokyo, according to Autostraddle.

A few months before the proposal, Waithe told Elle what her dream wedding would be like.

"It'll be small and intimate honestly, but [Mayo is] also like a black Audrey Hepburn, she's old school classic, and I know I have a bit more of a swaggier style, so we complement each other really well. It'll be something small, intimate, and very personal," Waithe said.

Fans will see another side of Waithe in Steven Spielberg's sci-fi adventure, Ready Player One. She talked with our sister site Shadow and Act about the experience.

The film is now showing, and Waithe said it's a classic. The movie is “a love letter to people who love movies, games, who sometimes feel more comfortable when they’re by themselves, dreaming things up. I think it’s a classic Spielberg movie. ” she said.

The acting thing to me is all fun and joy and chill," Waithe said. “I will always be a television writer, but when I’m an actor on-set, I’m having the most fun because I have the least amount of stress.”
