During a conversation part of The Skin Deep series, a married couple reflected on what they’ve learned about love over the years.

At the beginning of the conversation, York asked his wife Mildred “What have I taught you about love?”

Mildred looked at her husband, repeated the question, and gave her response.

“Well. I’ll tell you exactly what you taught me about love, and you said it on the day we met. You told me that God is love, and you had to learn that God is love,” she said.

She continued with her reply, adding “Because you couldn’t love anybody until you understood what love really was.”

Mildred praised York for consistently showing her the love of God “even when you don’t want to do something” throughout their relationship.

She also pointed out that he reminds her that God instructs all to “love each other.”

Mildred added that through the way York has conducted his life and the things he has done for their family, he has genuinely displayed Godly love.

In a tender moment, York received her affectionate words and said he loves her too.

Surprisingly, despite being married for 23 years, York revealed that he was initially fearful of marriage and commitment.

“It really told me something about you that sometimes I need to hold back my feelings,” he said to a surprised Mildred.

Mildred also credited York for teaching her the value of self-care and taking time for herself, even though she described herself as a busy person who enjoys being social.

They concluded their chat with Mildred asking York, “If this were to be our last conversation, what’s something you never want me to forget?”

York swiftly answered, “That I love you…and if this is our last conversation, that I wish I would, I could always be there for you.”

Mildred wisely nods and leaned forward, saying “OK, seal it with a kiss.”
