nullIf the completely underwhelming trailer which Sergio posted a week ago didn’t do much to make you ambivalent about seeing it, maybe the fact that Lionsgate previously pushed back the release date for I, Frankenstein, at least twice, might do the trick!

Based on actor/screenwriter/writer Kevin Grevioux’s graphic novel of the same name, I, Frankenstein stars Aaron Eckhart as the creature who finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries-old war between two immortal clans, in a present day dark, gothic metropolis.
The studio will release I, Frankenstein in 3D, by the way, with the potential for it to become a franchise, depending on how this first film does.
Series creator Kevin Grevioux (photo above) has a part in the film – as he typically does in films based on his graphic novels, like the Underworld franchise of films, to start.
But he’s usually behind make-up, so you might’ve missed (or may miss) him – like in I, Frankenstein, in which he plays a character named Dekar, a rather handsome fellow, as you can see in the image at the bottom of this post.
So if you do intend to see I, Frankenstein, when you see Dekar on screen as represented in the above photo, you can point and whisper in ear of the person sitting next to you in the theater: “That’s Kevin Grevioux, the dude who created the graphic novel the film is based on!
Set in a dystopic present where vigilant gargoyles and ferocious demons rage in a battle for ultimate power, Victor Frankenstein’s creation Adam (Aaron Eckhart) finds himself caught in the middle as both sides race to discover the secret to his immortality. From the co-writer of the hit supernatural saga, UNDERWORLD, comes the action thriller I, FRANKENSTEIN, written for the screen and directed by Stuart Beattie based on the graphic novel “I, Frankenstein” by Kevin Grevioux, and brought to life by a cast that includes Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney, Socratis Otto, Mahesh Jadu, Caitlin Stasey and Aden Young as Victor Frankenstein.

By the way, a little trivia… Grevioux, a comic book writer and former microbiologist with a background in genetic engineering, said he based the original Underworld story on his experiences with interracial dating and the tensions that it often causes!

Inspiration is everywhere, isn’t it?

Also, a few titles from Grevioux’s DarkStorm Studios imprint have been optioned in recent years, like ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction, and The Gray Men.

Grevioux is an exec-produce on I, Frankenstein as well.

I hope we’ll get to interview eventually.
