Omarosa Manigault has been dubbed the "black liaison" for the Trump administration. Her effectiveness at reaching the black community has been mixed; so far, one the the most notable events of her tenure has been a snub from the CBC.
According to a New York Times report, her prominence may be on the decline thanks to a new hire.
The White House's new Chief of Staff, John Kelly, has been hard at work to ensure that the president has less distractions during the day.
Kelly's decided to call in some backup. He has hired Kirstjen Nielsen to be his second-in-command, and President Trump's new assistant.
One of Nielsen's duties will be to be in charge of a "no-fly list" for important meetings. Basically, going forward there will be no question as to who is invited to meetings. If you're on the list, you can't come, no matter what. Also, there will be a “principals only” addendum to meeting invites that notes that subordinates are not allowed to attend meetings under any circumstances.
Nielsen is known for her no-nonsense attitude, and one of the targets of her firm fury is Omarosa herself!
Omarosa's role in the White House has been described as "ill-defined," and perhaps because of this, she has reportedly developed a pattern of dropping into meetings uninvited. Now if she wants to get inside these meetings, she'll have to hit up Nielsen first.
Omarosa's official title is Director of Communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison.
It seems that she wouldn't always communicate things in a helpful way, however. A Daily Beast report claims that Omarosa would often "trigger" President Trump by sharing negative news stories about him and internal White House issues.
This, along with appearing at meetings she wasn't supposed to be in, are why Nielsen is banning her. Shaking the table!
Omarosa isn't the only one affected by this new hire — other staff members (including President Trump's children) are reportedly salty about this new procedure as well — but she is certainly the one that sticks out!
According to Fox News, one senior White House official has denied the NYT report, calling it "completely false."
Omarosa has not yet commented on the matter.
