Nicki Minaj‘s latest interview with Joe Budden was released on Wednesday and she’s not only dropping jewels of wisdom for newer female rappers trying to break into the game, but the “Do We Have a Problem?” artist also gave a rare insight into her life as a new mother juggling both her career and child care.

During the interview, Minaj said she was one of the first artists to receive ridicule on social media about her “ass shots.”

She added that she also took heat from Lil Wayne and other members of YMCMB who made jokes to her when she was younger — jokes that she said she wouldn’t tolerate now.

“And actually what happened was I kept on being around [Lil] Wayne and them. At that time, you know Wayne, he’s always talking about big booties. Wayne would have a new chick in the studio every session. So they were his muses but I just was around them all the time and I was like the little sister. This is what you’re supposed to look like in the rap culture and I don’t look like that,” she said.

“They don’t know probably that I always had that insecurity,” she said, describing the lighthearted nature of the teasing. “They were just joking. They didn’t mean any harm, but it wasn’t a joke to me.”

Minaj also discussed her life as a new mom. She revealed that she had to relearn who she was after having her son.

She shared with Budden that during her pregnancy, she experienced “severe writer’s block” due to being “consumed” by researching pregnancy topics.

She ultimately was brought out of her creative block with the release of “Seeing Green,” on which she’s featured alongside heavyweights Lil Wayne and Drake.

But now that Minaj is back to business, she wants to transition into becoming a mogul.

“I’m creating my own management company to manage me, and then along the way I’m sure we’ll be able to manage others. So, I’m putting the key players together around myself because there are people in my life currently who I think are really dope at what they do,” she told Budden. “And now it’s just a couple other seats I think that are open and I want to create my own –– not want to –– I am creating my own management company as opposed to going to somebody and having someone manage me and getting a percentage of everything that I’ve built for all these years.”

She’s also in the midst of building a record company. She hasn’t made any official announcements as of yet, but she said she’s started laying the groundwork.

“I have a couple artists that I will start the record company with. But those things I will probably speak on, or announce it, closer to album time,” she said.

In addition to her new ventures, Minaj will be expanding some of her previous businesses and skills. The rapper also shared that she’s taken her show Queen Radio to another service.

Exploring other ventures, the 39-year-old is currently in talks with a director to work on an undisclosed film. Minaj was tight-lipped on the details of the movie, but she offered that the new gig is “a bigger role than I’ve ever taken on and it’s a more in-depth role than I’ve ever taken on.”

Minaj also makes a large point in her interview to say that she wants her credit where its due for the influence she’s had on fashion, makeup and hair trends. She points out that neither she nor Lil Kim have graced the cover of American Vogue, which she finds to be contradictory to the brand’s efforts to highlight those with “influence.”

“I just want to let people know that the reason why the most [influential] female rapper or whatever isn’t being represented on or hasn’t been represented on an American Vogue is because when, if you don’t speak up, we don’t fight for each other, then they can take what you did and they can put it on someone else,” she said.
