The White House continues to have a difficult time getting things accurate. The New York Daily News reports that an error exists in a press release by the administration naming three people to the Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commission.

Created in a bill passed by Congress last year, the Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commission will create programs to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth. The press release mentioned Douglas instead of Douglass. This isn't the first time the administration has received major side-eye action regarding the legacy of Frederick Douglass. Who could forget 45's comments at a Black History Month event last year?

“Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more, I notice,” said Trump.

Eric Madison Lowery and Naomi C. Earp were nominated to the bicentennial commission along with Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr., who has become a supporter of Trump despite accusations of racism.

Black History Month is as good a time as any for this administration to start getting things right regarding black people. While we won't be holding our breath, we hope the administration does a better job of celebrating the legacies of notable black figures more accurately.
