A small bomb exploded in a Target bathroom in Evanston, Illinois on Wednesday. According to WGN, officials are still uncertain whether or not this bomb attack is connected to the company’s policy on allowing transgender people to use bathrooms of their choice.

The bomb caused minor damage, and no one was hurt in the attack. Because of the recent backlash Target has faced, regarding their accepting and progressive policies on transgender rights, police are not ruling out the possibility that this attack was motivated by anti-transgender sentiment. Protesters who do not agree with the policy have been recording videos recently ,dressing up as women and going into bathrooms in an attempt to approve that the policy is not a good idea.

Despite all of the controversy, Target is saying it is putting its customers and team members first. The company told Mic that their safety is “of the utmost important to Target” and that they have “zero tolerance for any illegal or unsafe behavior” in their stores.

The Chicago Tribune is also reporting that a person of interest is currently in custody.
