After working as an officer for 18 years across four precincts, 39-year-old Anthony Conner is set to be sworn in as the new president of Omaha, Nebraska’s police officer's association, as elected by its members.

According to Omaha, Conner believes the Omaha Police Department has been inclusive during his time with them. Consisting of over 800 officers, Conner looks forward to serving everyone in the jurisdiction.

“At the end of the day, we’re all brothers and sisters in blue,” Connor told Omaha. “At the same time, I do recognize the history there and that some people will see this as a moment of pride.”

Conner will be taking over for former Omaha Police Officers Association President John Wells, and has already considered what he believes can be improved upon.

“I think it’s important that our association reaches out to the community to explain how we directly and indirectly affect policing in Omaha and how we positively affect policing in Omaha,” Conner said.
