It broke the internet — and quite frankly, some of the franchises too. The toasted brioche bun, buttermilk-battered fried chicken, crisp pickles and spicy Cajun sauce, which make up the Popeyes chicken sandwich, are finally back, and this time, it’s here to stay.

The sandwich that caused uproar over the summer will return to the chain on Sunday, November 3 — right in time for National Sandwich Day.

To announce it’s long-awaited return, the New Orleans-based restaurant released a video, shading its opponent in the Great Chicken Sandwich War of 2019, Chick-fil-A. The sandwich is being released the same day Popeyes' rival franchise is closed.

When it was first released in August, chicken lovers flocked. Twitter went up in flames. After taking the nation by storm, the sandwich sold out in just two weeks. “Sorry, No More Sandwiches” signs began popping up on doors of Popeyes throughout the country.

They decided to use the hiccup as a marketing ploy and launched a BYOB (bring your own bun) campaign, recommending customers build their own sandwich using Popeyes’ chicken tenders.

But this time around, Popeyes has a better plan. They are hiring more employees and assigning workers to specific sandwich duty.

"We plan to offer it to our guests for a long time," Bruno Cardinali, head of marketing for North America at Popeyes, told CNN Business in an email. "We are confident that we'll be able to meet the demand."

Upon first news of the arrival of the sandwich in August, Chick-fil-A tried to conduct damage control, realizing it may lose customers. They tweeted, comparing their sandwich to love and calling it “the original.”

The tweet prompted a response from Popeyes.

Your move, Chick-fil-A.
