Rep. Ilhan Omar is receiving backlash after responding to a video of people singing Christian songs on a plane, according to the New York Post. Omar reposted the video to her social media, asking how onlookers would respond if she were to do the same, the Daily Dot reports.

The video, which was originally posted by Kingdom Realm Ministries founder Jack Jensz Jr., shows several travelers, including one playing a guitar, singing Christian songs while the aircraft was 30,000 feet in the air. Some onlookers not participating in the impromptu performance looked uncomfortable, while others pulled their phones out to capture the moment.

It picked up speed when it was reposted to Twitter. In a tweet of the video, many expressed that the religious outburst was annoying.

“Imagine you get on a plane and you have to listen to this,” someone wrote on Twitter.

“They did this knowing it would annoy people. If nobody complained then they would say to their young followers ‘people love it when you stand up for God,’ and if it went poorly they would say ‘look how much people hate Christianity, we need to stand up for God,'” one user commented.

But it was Omar’s response to the video that had people enraged. She commented on the video, saying that if her and her family were to break out into a “prayer session” on a flight, the response and outcome would likely be different.

“I think my family and I should have a prayer session next time I am on a plane,” Omar wrote. “How do you think it will end?”

Her comment drew harsh criticism from people, the New York Post reports.

“Why do you hate Christians, Ilhan? If the freedom of religion we enjoy here in America disturbs you, feel free to pack your bags and head back to Somalia, Sudan, or wherever you’re from. Take your brother with you,” Georgia congressional candidate Vernon Jones tweeted.

GOP Florida congressional candidate Jose Castillo argued that “in America, Muslims can & do pray in public,” adding that if Omar “wants a country where Christians aren’t allowed to do the same [Omar] should go back to her own country.”

Cicely Davis, who hopes to represent Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, also replied to the representative on Twitter.

“Qatar – a country you’re very familiar with – plays Islamic prayers on the intercom before takeoff on their planes. They have a designated prayer area & coordinates for Mecca are posted on the screens,” she tweeted.

Later, she accused of Omar of hating “Christians & Jews & lots of Muslims.”

Omar has fired back to some of the backlash she’s received on social media.

“Anti-Christian hate? You need to stop projecting your bigotry,” she wrote in response to a negative comment. “Religious bigots like you always think others hold the same hate they have in their hearts. It’s Ramadan and I am gonna pray for y’all. May God cleanse your hearts.”
