ProPublica uncovered a secret Facebook group of current and former border patrol agents, where they joked about migrant deaths, discussed throwing burritos at Latino members of Congress, and posted vulgar illustrations.
An exchange in the secret group, which was created in August of 2016, showed illustrations of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez performing oral sex at a migrant detention center — another of her being forced onto President Trump's crotch.
“These posts are completely inappropriate and contrary to the honor and integrity I see, and expect, from our agents day in and day out. Any employees found to have violated our standards of conduct will be held accountable,” said U.S. Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost in a statement.
Provost was not the only official to respond to the report and among those who did are Democratic officials. A staffer in Rep. Veronica Escobar's office referred to the posts on the Facebook group as "vile and sexist.”
9,500 CBP officers sharing memes about dead migrants and discussing violence and sexual misconduct towards members of Congress.
How on earth can CBP’s culture be trusted to care for refugees humanely?
PS I have no plans to change my itinerary & will visit the CBP station today.

"It confirms some of the worst criticisms of Customs and Border Protection,” said Rep. Joaquin Castro, head of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, to ProPublica. “These are clearly agents who are desensitized to the point of being dangerous to migrants and their co-workers.”
The unearthing of these posts are not individual. In 2018 there was the case of Matthew Bowen — an agent charged with running down a Guatemalan migrant with a Ford pickup truck. Found on Bowen's phone were numerous racist texts sent by other agents in Southern Arizona. The migrants were described as "guats,” “wild a** sh**bags,” “beaners,” and “subhuman" — other discussions included burning the migrants.
A report by the USA Today attempted to confirm allegations made by people being houses on federal facilities, complaining of treatment by CBP agents. Describing being held in cold, overcrowded cells with little or no access to water, food or basic hygiene supplies.
“The overwhelming majority of children are asylum seekers,” said Elora Mukherjee, a New York-based immigration attorney who interviewed children detainees at the Clint Border Patrol station last week to the USA Today. “They are already fleeing from the worst trauma we can imagine. To be detained in conditions like this compounds the trauma.”
Another poster asked about the picture that has tugged on the heartstrings of Americans wondering if the picture was possibly photoshopped by Democrats, after posting the photo of the father and his 23-month-old daughter lying face down in the Rio Grande, referring to the father and daughter as "floaters."
“I HAVE NEVER SEEN FLOATERS LIKE THIS,” the person wrote in their post which was shown by ProPublica, “could this be another edited photo. We’ve all seen the dems and liberal parties do some pretty sick things."
The group, publicized by ProPublica, is called “I’m 10-15” and has nearly 9,500 members nationwide. The group describes itself as a forum for “funny” and “serious” discussion about work with the patrol. The "10-15" is code in border patrol circles for "aliens in custody," according to ProPublica.
