Celebrity brands don’t always hit the mark when creating effective and accessible products.

Kourtney Kardashian’s vitamin supplement brand Lemme is the latest to find itself in hot water, thanks to its newest product, Purr, a gummy that claims to support vaginal health. However, several medical professionals say the gummy may be bad for you, Fox 29 reported.

According to Lemme’s website, Purr stabilizes vaginal pH levels, promotes healthy vaginal microflora and improves overall vaginal health. However, in an interview with Fox 5, family physician Dr. Jen Caudle said the messaging behind the product is dangerous.

“The message that I take from it is that we need something to make it better, to help the pH, the taste, the odor, the this or that, etc. That is problematic in and of itself. First of all, I’ll say, women, you are fine just the way you are.”

Dr. Caudle fears the product will make consumers think they can solve any vaginal issues over the counter.

“This concept that we need a gummy, a supplement, a thing to make our vaginas or any other part of us better along this line is problematic to me, and I don’t agree with it,” she said.

According to the doctor, there isn’t enough evidence regarding the effectiveness of daily gummies like Lemme’s.

“My issue with these supplements and many others is often we just don’t have data, appropriate scientific data, to say really what they actually do and what they don’t do,” she added.

Plus, Twitter is unhappy with what Kardashian named the new gummy, with many accusing the reality star of appropriating Black culture (an accusation made against the Kardashian family on more than one occasion).

Internet personality Rolling Ray wrote, I actually like you @kourtneykardash! & now u wanna take from the black community again.. u know where the name started.. this is becoming too much.. we never heard you purr a day in life..”

“Kourtney need to give it up,” another added.

“Get her for me,” one chimed in with a clip of Mimi Faust in Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.

Kardashian nor the Lemme team have responded to the backlash.
