Drag superstar and two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race alumna Chi Chi DeVayne has died at the age of 34.
DeVayne, whose real name is Zavion Davenport, had been hospitalized for suspected kidney failure related to scleroderma, which she was diagnosed with not too long ago. The news comes less than a week after she posted on social media, alerting followers that they were hospitalized once again.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, DeVayne was previously hospitalized back in July for high blood pressure and suspected kidney failure. DeVayne told fans on social media that she had to have her kidneys surgically installed before undergoing dialysis treatment. She was discharged but was back in the hospital reportedly for pneumonia.
DeVayne first appeared on season 8 of RuPaul’s Drag Race before returning for season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. She was one of the franchise’s most notable lip-sync assassins, delivering several iconic performances such as “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going.”
