In the late 1990's, the Williams' sisters took the professional tennis world by storm dominating the sport and collectively racking up a dozen Wimbledon singles titles between them. Serena Williams, the youngest of the two, is considered by many to be the greatest athlete ever. While her nearly two-decade winning streak is impossible to ignore,  Serena has graciously accepted her accolades with a side of hate throughout her entire career. From shameless racist stereotypes, to the shaming and sexualization of her body, to having her athletic prowess subject to hateful and distasteful animalistic comparisons, Serena has consistently taken the high road.

When the recently engaged tennis star took to Snapchat last week to announce her pregnancy, what should have been a tender moment was tainted when former professional men’s tennis champ, 70-year-old Ilie Nastase made an insensitive comment about the appearance of William's unborn biracial child with Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian saying, "Let's see what color it has. Chocolate with milk?"

In response to the remark, Williams took to Instagram to pen the following note:

Serena channeled the spirit of Maya Angelou for the clappage!

Nastase, who was previously under investigation by the International Tennis Federation for his “unacceptable behavior” as Romania’s Fed Cup captain during a tennis match over the weekend, has been placed on provisional suspension for his comments.

In other news, Serena continues to thrive.
