Halle Berry's connection to a problematic politician is proof you can’t choose your family.
The John Wick 3 star found out she was related to former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin and revealed the troubling news to the world a few years ago, according to Page Six.
“You want to know who I’m related to? Sarah Palin!” Berry told Extra in 2012.
When asked how they were connected, she didn’t specify.
“Some twisted way,” she continued. "Somebody sent me this information that she was my distant [relative].”
Berry was reminded of that familial connection by a tweet from The Daily Blast’s Twitter account, and she was NOT here for it.

“This pair shares roots that may seem like they're from different trees, but @halleberry and former VP candidate @SarahPalinUSA are distant relatives — though the actual connection is unclear,” the outlet tweeted.
“She may be on the tree but she ‘AINT invited to the cookout,” the 53-year-old actress responded followed by a laughing emoji.
Berry’s shady response tickled Twitter.

Can you blame her?
For the uninformed, Palin is the former governor of Alaska and the late John McCain’s running mate during the 2008 presidential election. She’s the lady who told the world she could see Russia from her house in Alaska.
One thing the two women have in common is a dramatic love life. According to People, Palin found out she was getting a divorce from her husband Todd by way of email. Palin married Todd in 1988, and he filed for divorce last fall.
“I found out from an email from an attorney saying that she was hired and that was on June 19th, I'll never forget it,” she told Christian writer James Dobson in November. “Then on Todd's birthday, a week after our 31st anniversary is when he filed, yeah. Oh, yeah. It's not easy to talk about.”
Berry has been married three times and was in a long-term relationship with former model Gabriel Aubry from 2005-2010. Aubry is the father of Berry’s oldest child Nahla, who was born in 2008. The former couple has been engaged in an ugly custody battle since they separated. The same month Palin gave the aforementioned interview, Radar Online revealed Berry accused her baby daddy of engaging in an incestuous relationship with a family member and using racist language around their daughter.
